Beaujolais is best known for Gamay, but Chardonnay has a quiet foothold here too, particularly in the southern part of the region where it meets the Mâconnais. In those vineyards, the geology and climate start to look familiar, and the wines often do as well.

La Perle Blanche is made from Chardonnay grown on granite and schist soils close to that border. It’s vinified entirely in stainless steel, keeping the style clean, fresh and direct.

Aromatically it’s open and bright, with citrus, white flowers and a hint of pear. On the palate it’s dry and brisk, with good acidity and a lightly mineral finish. There’s no oak influence here, just straightforward fruit and a clean line from start to finish.

Food Pairing

This is an easy wine to place at the table. It works well with grilled or poached fish, shellfish, and simple pasta dishes with lemon or herbs. It’s also a good match for soft, creamy cheeses, where the acidity keeps things balanced rather than heavy.

Chardonnay

One of the world’s most popular grapes, Chardonnay is made in a wide range of styles from lean, sparkling Blanc de Blancs to rich, creamy white wines aged in oak.

Depending on how ripe the grapes get, the flavour ranges from crisp, clean citrus and green apple, to ripe peaches and tropical fruit. Notable Chardonnays can be found in France, California, Australia, England, and beyond.

Beaujolais, France

The hilly Beaujolais vineyards stretch out from north to south over 55km, bordered to the west by the Massif Central, and to the east by the Saone river.

Beaujolais vineyards are emblematic in the French national landscape, but are still teeming with secrets to be unearthed. The region has a constent sense of welcome and sharing. Sculpted over centuries it is personified by its 12 AOCs.
