Chardonnay
Chardonnay became "the wine" to drink in the late 80s and 90s, leading to mass production, over-oaking and poor quality. Hence the prevelance of the mnemonic ABC (anything but Chardonnay). Things have improved massively since then and quality is at an all time high.
A green-skinned grape variety used in the production of white wine. The variety originated in the Burgundy wine region of eastern France, but is now grown wherever wine is produced, from England to New Zealand.
