Evgueni Louis Max, hailed from Georgia, which many believe is the birthplace of winemaking. He inherited his passion from his father, a wine merchant who had been a soldier in Tsar Alexander I’s army.
French winemakers were then discovering the Caucasus. This encounter of the world’s two best winemaking traditions inspired Evgueni to embark on his own voyage of discovery. In 1859, the young exile established his Maison in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy. Today, its domain spans Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits, and Chablis.
After 160 years, Louis Père & Fils continues to blend innovation and tradition to produce extraordinary wines from three of the world’s most illustrious terroirs.
