Viognier originated in the Rhône Valley (in Southern France). It is a full bodied variety that loves warm climates. It is often left on the vines for a long time which allows its aromatic profile to develop. Common flavours and aromas include tangerine, apricot, apple, honeysuckle, baking spices, and ginger.
Prior to its renaissance, Viognier was reduced to just a few plantings, thankfully the variety is once again flourishing in the Southern Rhône and Languedoc.
