Excellent quality Cru Bourgeois. Ripe cassis fruit, oak spice and a leafy note to the ripe tannins. Slightly savoury and showing a hint of maturity, the finish has notes of forest floor and is long and spicy with a lingering, fruity core.
The vines at Château Carcanieux average 25 years of age and grow on particularly gravelly and sandy, free-draining soil within 23ha of this Médoc estate. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (5%) are vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged oak barrels, with no more than a fifth in new oak.
Try with a peppered steak, chargrilled lamb or venison.

Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux is a famous wine region in southwestern France which produces some of the world's finest wines. The region is home to over 10,000 wine estates and more than 60 appellations, each with its own unique terroir and wine styles.
Bordeaux wines are typically known for their complexity, depth, and ability to age.
"If anyone orders merlot, I’m leaving. I am not drinking any f*&!ing merlot".
Miles view (from the film Sideways) is not shared by everyone, Merlot is loved by many for it's boisterous black cherry flavours, supple tannins, and chocolatey finish. It is a component of some of the worlds finest wines.
One of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among a diverse spectrum of climates from Australia and British Columbia, Canada to Lebanon's Beqaa Valley.
The classic profile is full-bodied with high tannins and noticeable acidity that contributes to aging potential.
Established in the Libournais region of southwest France in the 17th century. Cardinal Richelieu later took cuttings to the Loire Valley where it's early ripening allowed it to thrive. It is also found thoughout Bordeaux and in the USA.
It typically produces pale red wine with a peppery perfume touched with tobacco, raspberry, bell pepper, cassis, and violets.
Château Carcanieux covers an area of 40 hectares, 37 of which are planted with vines - mostly consisting of old vine Cabernet Sauvignon with some Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The estate sits on a ridge above the town of Queyrac named Les Terres Hautes de Carcanieux ("The Highlands of Queyrac"). The soil here is extremely gravelly, giving rise the estate's original name that is carved into its pediment: Carcanieux Les Graves.
