£93.00 Case of 6 (In Bond)

Château Potensac has long been regarded as one of the leading estates of the northern Médoc. Owned by the Delon family, best known for Château Léoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien, it combines the resources and expertise of one of Bordeaux's most respected winemaking families with a reputation for delivering exceptional value.

The estate's vineyards lie around Ordonnac in the northern Médoc, where clay-limestone soils help retain freshness and structure. Cabernet Sauvignon plays the leading role, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, producing wines that are unmistakably Left Bank in style: cassis, cedar, graphite and firm but well-judged tannins.

The 2025 vintage appears particularly favourable for Cabernet Sauvignon, and Potensac looks well placed to benefit. While many buyers focus on the classified growths further south, Potensac has built its reputation by offering many of the same qualities at a more approachable price. It remains one of Bordeaux's most dependable sources of traditional claret.

For cellar builders, Potensac occupies an attractive middle ground. It is approachable enough to provide enjoyment within its first decade but has a proven record of developing complexity and nuance with further ageing. Few wines in Bordeaux offer such a convincing combination of pedigree, consistency and value.

Food Pairing

Excellent with roast lamb, beef, game dishes and slow-cooked casseroles. As the wine matures, it pairs particularly well with roast venison, rib of beef and mature hard cheeses.

Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among a diverse spectrum of climates from Australia and British Columbia, Canada to Lebanon's Beqaa Valley.

The classic profile is full-bodied with high tannins and noticeable acidity that contributes to aging potential.

Cabernet Franc

Established in the Libournais region of southwest France in the 17th century. Cardinal Richelieu later took cuttings to the Loire Valley where it's early ripening allowed it to thrive. It is also found thoughout Bordeaux and in the USA.

It typically produces pale red wine with a peppery perfume touched with tobacco, raspberry, bell pepper, cassis, and violets.

Merlot

"If anyone orders merlot, I’m leaving. I am not drinking any f*&!ing merlot".

Miles view (from the film Sideways) is not shared by everyone, Merlot is loved by many for it's boisterous black cherry flavours, supple tannins, and chocolatey finish. It is a component of some of the worlds finest wines.
