This is a generous, easy-drinking Saint-Émilion Grand Cru that shows just how enjoyable Right Bank Bordeaux can be. From clay-limestone soils around Saint-Émilion, the focus here is on ripe fruit, balance and drinkability rather than heavy oak or over-extraction.
Château Puy Razac Grand Cru Saint-Émilion 2022 is mainly Merlot, with a splash of Cabernet Franc for freshness. The 2022 vintage was warm and dry, producing healthy, well-ripened grapes with plenty of flavour while still retaining good freshness. The result is a wine with ripe cherry, plum and dark berry fruit, alongside gentle hints of spice and cocoa.
On the palate it’s smooth, rounded and very approachable, with soft tannins and just enough structure to give it shape without making it feel serious or hard work. There’s a bit more depth here than in cooler years, but it stays balanced and easy to enjoy.
Drinking Window: Drinking well now, especially with food, but it also has enough structure to age gracefully. Enjoy from now through 2028–2032 if you’d like to lay a few bottles down and see a little more savoury complexity develop over time.
Food Pairings: A real all-rounder at the table — great with roast lamb, steak or duck, as well as rich pasta dishes and mushroom-based meals. It also works well with a relaxed cheese board at the end of dinner.
A proper, honest Saint-Émilion Grand Cru that delivers flavour and comfort in spades — and a good example of why the 2022 vintage is such a pleasure to drink now.
