Produced from 80 year old vines, this Pinot Noir is aged for 16 months in oak, 35% of which is new.
In the glass it shows a deep ruby colour. On the nose there are aromas of blackberries and other berry fruits, with a touch of toasted bread. Full of fruit in the mouth with flavours of blueberry and well integrated oak, the wine has complexity and a long, elegant finish.
The Côte de Nuits follows a narrow strip of red iron-rich soils that run the short distance south from Dijon to the town of Nuits St Georges and ends before the hill of Corton. It is perhaps the source of the greatest and most elusive Pinot Noir wines of Burgundy.
Best served with meat on the grill, lasagne, Gruyère, pâté.
