This is proper Pouilly-Fuissé from Domaine Normand, made from selected climats on the clay-limestone slopes of the Mâconnais. It’s Chardonnay with a bit of shape to it, and more detail than the easy, fruit-forward examples the appellation sometimes turns out.
The nose is clean and classic: white peach, citrus peel and a light floral note, with a gentle butteriness and a touch of oak kept firmly in the background. On the palate it’s concentrated without being heavy, with fresh acidity, a mineral edge, and a long, savoury finish. It’s already drinking well, but it has the balance to improve over the next few years too.
Food Pairing
This is very much a "proper dinner" white. It suits roast chicken, richer fish, scallops, and dishes with cream or butter in the sauce. It also works well with goat’s cheese, Comté, or anything in that broad Burgundy wheelhouse where the wine’s freshness keeps things from feeling too rich.
