The autumn of 2019 was cooler than the previous year. This resulted in Bacchus grapes that retained higher acidity levels and lighter body.
England in Spring
It seems often in the cooler year the aromas of the Bacchus grape seem to flourish and become more pronounced. This excellent white wine from Cornwall is dry and crisp. It has all the aromas of the English hedgerow in spring with bags or elderflower and gooseberry.
The grapes for this Bacchus were harvested by hand in good clean condition. The Bacchus was then pressed and fermented cool in stainless steel tanks. It was aged for a short period after fermentation and bottled in the spring of 2020.
It is perfect as an aperitif or with lighter flavoured cuisines.

Bacchus
The colder climate in England gives Bacchus higher acidity and lower yields than when grown elsewhere. English Bacchus wines often fall somewhere between the typical French and New Zealand styles of Sauvignon Blanc, although there are examples at either end of the spectrum.
Winemaker David Brocklehurst started with an allotment at the age of 13 and, from a vine cutting, grew 100kg of fruit. That passion has extended to producing light and fruity still wines, sparkling wine and vermouth.
Cornwall is incredibly bio-diverse. Woodlands, sun-kissed valleys and long coast lines are all present. Due to this diverse terroir, a diverse range of wines can be expected. Cornish winemakers today are producing everything from Rose to still red and white and sparkling wines.
