This bold and powerful, organic red from Brindisi is made in a similar way to a Ripasso wine using a portion of dried Primitivo grapes and fermenting the wine a second time on the dried skins. It's got the smoothness you expect from an Apassimento style wine from Italy.

Made from native Primitivo grapes from the lush countryside of Apulia in the South of Italy, Doppio Passo owes its exceptionally smooth and well-balanced character to picking the grapes at two different times during the harvest: first when the grapes are fully ripe, and second at a later time, to obtain its distinctive taste.

When blended, the result is an aromatic red wine which is soft, full and exceptionally full-bodied wine with aromas of blackberries, cherries and forest fruits. The palate shows an amazing concentration of plum, blackberry, cherry and chocolate flavours.

Serve with spicy pasta dishes, roast pork or beef, game dishes and full flavoured hard cheeses.

Puglia, Italy

Wines from Puglia tend to be fruity, ripe, full-bodied, red and well priced. Some of the best value wines come from this sunny, dry region. Pair the wines with the traditional foods of the region, which are often based on olives, artichokes, tomatoes, and mushrooms. The best local grapes are Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Bombino Nero.

Primitivo/Zinfandel

Primitivo is a red grape that produces bold wines with smooth flavours of blackberry, dark chocolate and liquorice. Originally from Croatia, where it is known as Crljenak Kaštelanski. It found its true home on the eroded limestone plateaus of Puglia, Italy. It also does well in California, where it’s called Zinfandel.
