Istenic is a third-generation family estate in Slovenia, now run by brothers Nik and Mark Istenic. They make wines with a clean, steady style, with a particular focus on sparkling wines.
Slovenia sits between a few better-known neighbours, but it has a long wine history of its own. Istenic is one of the producers that shows how well the country can do fresh, food-friendly wines, and sparkling wines with real detail.
The approach in the cellar is careful rather than flashy. The aim is balance, clarity and a finish that makes you want another glass.
