Grolleau is a traditional Loire Valley grape variety best known for its role in Rosé d'Anjou. It produces light, fresh wines with bright red fruit flavours, moderate alcohol and an easy-going character that has made it a fixture of Loire winemaking for generations.
Although it is occasionally bottled on its own, Grolleau is more commonly found in blends and rosé wines. At its best, it brings juicy raspberry and redcurrant fruit, gentle structure and plenty of freshness. It is a grape that values drinkability over power, making it particularly well suited to relaxed drinking and lighter dishes.
