Nero d'Avola

Nero d'Avola is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties. Translated as Black of Avola, it is named after the town of Avola in the far south of Sicily.

Wines made from the grape are similar in style to a New World Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon. It has sweet tannins, plum, cherry and dried fruit flavours, with hints of pepper.
