A small release light red wine, with rich varietal characteristics. This light-bodied, fruity red has tart flavours of cherries and raspberries, making it the ideal match for spicy dishes. Hand selected grapes are fermented as whole bunches on the skins before undergoing a second pressing, ensuring high fruity aromas and taste, along with a striking colour.

Winner of Gold at the IWEA 2023 awards, where the judges said:

"Great colour, bright and cheerful, with red and blue fruit in abundance and a touch of flint and smoke on the nose. Vibrant morello cherry, spice and earth. Refreshing, with decent acidity, and low tannins.

"For me this was the highlight of the whole competition, not just because its light, juicy, fruity style was so enjoyable, but because it points to a style that I think many more English winemakers should be aiming for. Super fun and friendly wine. I will buy lots of this wine this summer.” 

Biddenden Vineyard is unique in thier use of Gamay, as one of the only English vineyards to grow this variety. To make the limited edition Gamay Noir requires an Indian summer. Since planting this variety in 1985, Biddenden has produced just six vintages: 2003, 2009, 2011, 2018, 2020 and 2022.
