This New Zealand Pinot Noir from Marlborough that uses hand picked grapes sourced from a single vineyard in the southern Ward Valley, blessed with deep clay loam soils and traces of limestone. New Zealand

New Zealand is a newcomer to the wine world. As recently as 1960 the country had just 400 hectares of vines.

The country's two islands (North Island and South Island) cover an enourmous area, encompassing many possibilities. The maritime climate is influenced by the strong prevailing winds off the Pacific Ocean and the striking mountainous terrain.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is the holy grail grape for many winemakers, it is a difficult mistress, but when made well it shines.

Young Pinot Noir has delicious aromas of cherries, raspberries, and strawberries. With age it develops complexity and mystery. Older wines have the capacity to become a gamey style of wine, and the best examples show autumnal notes of truffles, mushrooms, and forest floor.
