Bodegas Tarón Blanco 2022, Rioja

The leading Spanish winemaking region, both for its classically-styled wines, with their unique suitability for ageing, and for the new generation wines.

There are three distinct sub-regions (Rioja Alta, Rioja Oriental and Rioja Alavesa) and four classifications (Joven, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva), giving innovative winemakers endless possibilities to craft stunning wines.

Macabeo, often called Viura, is planted throughout Spain (it is very popular in Rioja) and there are some small plantings in Southern France.

Expect to find aromas of white fruit coupled with floral and sometimes aniseed notes. Macabeo/Viura wines tend to be fresh with good acidity and combine well with seafood, vegetable dishes or cheeses.

Bodegas Tarón is a cooperative based in the northernmost part of Rioja Alta. The cooperative is made up of four small towns; Cuzcurrita de Rio Tiron, Sajazarra, Villaseca and Tirgo. These four towns decided that as they share not only the landscape but their culture too, they would benefit from pooling together their vineyards and knowledge to create one Bodega focussed on creating high quality Rioja.
