This is a very crisp and fresh Rioja. In a break with Riojan tradition it has been entirely vinified in stainless steel and thus has no oak influence.

The grapes are a combination of Viura (also known as Macabeo) and Tempranillo blanco which come from 40 year-old vines. All the grpaes are from estate-owned vineyards located in four towns in Rioja Alta: Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón, Tirgo, Villaseca and Sajazarra.

It has pale-yellow hues with touches of green. It is clean and bright. The intense nose is driven by the Tempranillo Blanco. The palette is packed with white fruit, green apples and stone fruit, with floral hints and citrus notes. It has a spectacular mouthfell , with good initial volume and an acidity that makes it enticing and moreish.

It is the ideal pour for summer salads or fish dishes.

Macabeo/Viura

Macabeo, often called Viura, is planted throughout Spain (it is very popular in Rioja) and there are some small plantings in Southern France.

Expect to find aromas of white fruit coupled with floral and sometimes aniseed notes. Macabeo/Viura wines tend to be fresh with good acidity and combine well with seafood, vegetable dishes or cheeses.

Bodegas Tarón

Bodegas Tarón is a cooperative based in the northernmost part of Rioja Alta. The cooperative is made up of four small towns; Cuzcurrita de Rio Tiron, Sajazarra, Villaseca and Tirgo. These four towns decided that as they share not only the landscape but their culture too, they would benefit from pooling together their vineyards and knowledge to create one Bodega focussed on creating high quality Rioja.

Very good modern take on a white Rioja..The combination of Viura and Tempranillo blanco is a winner.Traditional Rioja can be quite weighty and rather woody. This is not like that at all.
