Château Meyney 2015 is one of the standout wines from Saint-Estèphe, produced in a vintage that has become one of Bordeaux's modern classics. The estate's gravelly hilltop vineyards overlooking the Gironde estuary consistently produce wines of depth, structure and longevity, and 2015 is an outstanding example.

Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot, the wine opens with aromas of blackcurrant, cassis and black cherry layered with cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf and subtle spice. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with fine-grained tannins, vibrant freshness and a long, savoury finish.

Château Meyney occupies one of Saint-Estèphe's oldest vineyard sites, with vines planted on deep gravel over clay overlooking the Gironde. Although it is not part of the 1855 Classification, Meyney has long enjoyed a reputation for producing wines that comfortably compete with many classed growth neighbours.

The warm, dry conditions of the 2015 growing season produced fruit of exceptional ripeness while retaining freshness. Careful élevage in French oak has added polish without masking the wine's distinctive Saint-Estèphe character, where Cabernet Sauvignon's structure is balanced by the richness of Merlot and the spice of Petit Verdot.

Now entering a wonderful stage of maturity, Château Meyney 2015 combines youthful fruit with the first signs of bottle development. It will continue to evolve for many years, but is already a rewarding wine to enjoy with food.

Food Pairing

Serve with roast beef, côte de boeuf, lamb, venison or slow-cooked beef cheeks. Mature hard cheeses also make an excellent partner. Decant for an hour before serving to allow the wine to fully express its complexity.
