This red wine from the south-west of France is a "terroir" wine which reflects the local character. The vineyards sit on a renowned marine geological site, and a walk through the vines reveals a large number of fossils. This geology gives the wine a mineral and savoury quality.
Overhead the vines are protected by Eagles, the guardian of the sky (or as the label says Le Gardien des Cieux).
This is a very food friendly wine. The nose has aromas of berry fruits such as blackberries and blackcurrants, with touches of spice, and the palate has plush, silky tannins. It is a charming blend of Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) that is easy to drink on any occasion.
