Contrade Bellusa Organic Catarratto 2025 is a fresh, expressive white wine from Sicily, made entirely from organically grown Catarratto. One of the island's oldest native grape varieties, Catarratto combines Mediterranean fruit with bright acidity and a distinctive mineral character.
Aromas of Sicilian melon, white blossom and grapefruit lead into a crisp, balanced palate with lively citrus freshness and a subtle mineral note on the finish. Light-bodied and refreshing, it captures the easy-going style that makes Sicilian whites such rewarding everyday wines.
The grapes are grown on organically managed vineyards in the Agrigento hills at 200 to 300 metres above sea level. Shallow soils containing limestone, clay and iron encourage naturally balanced vines, while Sicily's maritime climate helps preserve freshness alongside generous fruit flavours.
Produced by Mondo del Vino, the wine reflects the cooperative's focus on combining carefully selected fruit with modern winemaking. The result is a clean, fruit-driven expression of Catarratto that allows the variety's naturally vibrant character to shine.
Although Sicily is often associated with powerful reds, its indigenous white grapes are increasingly attracting attention. Catarratto is capable of producing wines with real personality, balancing ripe fruit with the crisp acidity and mineral freshness that suit both seafood and Mediterranean cuisine.
Food Pairing
Serve chilled with grilled fish, seafood, Sicilian sardines, raw prawns, arancini or light pasta dishes. It also makes an excellent aperitif on a warm day.
