“Les Cloux” is a Rully Premier Cru made from 100% Chardonnay, grown on the limestone slopes around the village. Rully sits in the Côte Chalonnaise, between the Côte de Beaune to the north and the Mâconnais to the south, and it can offer some of the best value in white Burgundy when the winemaking is good.
This is a polished, well-made example. The aromas lean towards stewed apple and brioche, with hints of hazelnut and a touch of riper fruit. On the palate it’s smooth and rounded, with a fine line of acidity keeping it fresh. A small amount of oak ageing adds gentle buttery notes, but it doesn’t dominate. The finish is long and composed.
It’s the sort of bottle that regularly surprises people who assume they need a bigger name on the label to get quality.
Domaine Belleville has been based in Rully since the early 20th century. The estate farms around 28 hectares across Burgundy and is part of the Dumont family group, alongside Château de Messey in the Mâconnais and Manoir Murisaltien in the Côte d’Or.
Food Pairing
This works well with roast chicken, pork, or richer fish dishes, especially where there’s butter in the mix. It’s also a good match for creamy pasta, mushroom dishes, or soft cheeses where you want texture but still need freshness.

More Information
Chardonnay
One of the world’s most popular grapes, Chardonnay is made in a wide range of styles from lean, sparkling Blanc de Blancs to rich, creamy white wines aged in oak.
Depending on how ripe the grapes get, the flavour ranges from crisp, clean citrus and green apple, to ripe peaches and tropical fruit. Notable Chardonnays can be found in France, California, Australia, England, and beyond.
Burgundy (or Bourgogne in French) is small in size, the Côte d'Or has about 8000 hectares under vine, yet its influence is immense. It is home to some of the best known and most expensive wines in the world. Look in the right places and there is great quality and superb value to be found.
The two major grapes are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, though you can find small pockets of well-made Aligoté.
