Bertrand Ambroise and his children, François and Ludivine, consistently produce one of the best village Nuits-Saint-Georges reds.
For the reds, Bertrand keeps yields low, picking at full ripeness and de-stemming 100%. The percentage of new oak in the cellar is high, but most of the wines are aged in larger 400 litre casks to keep the fruit profile and minimise the impact of the oak.
This is full-bodied with wonderful, intense, red and black cherry flavours. It is a beautiful Burgundian perfumed Pinot Noir with a savoury edge. The oak is well integrated, adding touches of spice without being obtrusive. The finish is extremely long and supple.
An excellent partner to duck, goose or game birds.

Burgundy (or Bourgogne in French) is small in size, the Côte d'Or has about 8000 hectares under vine, yet its influence is immense. It is home to some of the best known and most expensive wines in the world. Look in the right places and there is great quality and superb value to be found.
The two major grapes are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, though you can find small pockets of well-made Aligoté.
Pinot Noir is the holy grail grape for many winemakers, it is a difficult mistress, but when made well it shines.
Young Pinot Noir has delicious aromas of cherries, raspberries, and strawberries. With age it develops complexity and mystery. Older wines have the capacity to become a gamey style of wine, and the best examples show autumnal notes of truffles, mushrooms, and forest floor.
Bertrand and Martine Ambroise have handed over much of the running of the estate to their children, François and Ludivine. Together, they have developed an organic philosophy, gaining certification in 2013.
François vinifies the wines with less extraction so that whilst the wines retain the big, bold flavours for which the estate is well known they show greater charm and finesse.
