Lyme Bay Bacchus Block 2025 is a single vineyard Bacchus sourced from Martin's Lane in Essex, one of England's leading regions for still wine. Made from 100% Bacchus, it captures the variety's trademark aromatic character while retaining the precision and freshness that have become hallmarks of Lyme Bay's winemaking.
Expressive aromas of gooseberry, pineapple and fresh lime lead into a vibrant palate layered with tropical fruit and blackcurrant leaf notes. Crisp acidity gives structure and freshness, while a long, steely, lime-driven finish keeps the wine focused and refreshing.
The fruit was hand harvested from the Martin's Lane vineyard at optimum ripeness before being gently handled and cool fermented in stainless steel. This approach preserves the grape's aromatic purity and allows the character of the vineyard to come through clearly.
Bacchus has become one of England's signature grape varieties, valued for its ability to produce aromatic, characterful wines in a cool climate. In the right hands it can offer freshness and complexity in equal measure, and this single vineyard bottling is a fine example of the style.
Fresh, precise and confidently made, this is an English white that delivers plenty of flavour without sacrificing balance or drinkability.
Food Pairing
Serve with grilled fish, oysters, chicken dishes, English asparagus or fresh summer salads. Its bright acidity and aromatic profile make it particularly well suited to seafood and lighter dishes.

More Information
Essex, England
Essex may be the best site for still wine grapes in England. The vineyards are concentrated in the Crouch Valley which is one of the driest and warmest parts of the UK.
Many of the vineyard sell their grapes rather than make their own wines, so often you may not be aware that the wine you are drinking is using grapes from Essex.
The colder climate in England gives Bacchus higher acidity and lower yields than when grown elsewhere. English Bacchus wines often fall somewhere between the typical French and New Zealand styles of Sauvignon Blanc, although there are examples at either end of the spectrum.
Lyme Bay produce the best wines made from the best fruit grown by the best growers in the best locations. The winemakers work with a group of outstanding growers with vineyards all over England who plant the right grapes for the climate they are in to get the best ripeness to produce the best raw materials to craft outstanding wine to delight your palate.
