Nuiton-Beaunoy is part of the Vignerons des Terres Secrètes co-operative, formed in 1957 and now firmly focused on sustainable farming and long-term balance, socially as well as environmentally. It’s a model that puts growers and vineyards first, and the wines tend to reflect that clarity of intent.

This is a straightforward, well-made Bourgogne Chardonnay. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, with no oak, and given time on its lees to build texture, it keeps the focus firmly on fruit and freshness rather than flavour from barrels.

In the glass it’s bright and clear, with aromas of apple, pear and a touch of stone fruit, alongside a gentle floral note. The palate is clean and balanced, with enough weight from the lees ageing to stop it feeling thin, and fresh acidity keeping it lively and precise. It finishes dry, tidy and easy to come back to.

Food Pairing

This is a very flexible white at the table. It works well with simple suppers: grilled chicken, fish, seafood, or vegetable dishes where you want something fresh and reliable rather than showy. It’s also a good bottle to open on its own while cooking, then keep drinking with whatever ends up on the plate.

Chardonnay

One of the world’s most popular grapes, Chardonnay is made in a wide range of styles from lean, sparkling Blanc de Blancs to rich, creamy white wines aged in oak.

Depending on how ripe the grapes get, the flavour ranges from crisp, clean citrus and green apple, to ripe peaches and tropical fruit. Notable Chardonnays can be found in France, California, Australia, England, and beyond.

Burgundy, France

Burgundy (or Bourgogne in French) is small in size, the Côte d'Or has about 8000 hectares under vine, yet its influence is immense. It is home to some of the best known and most expensive wines in the world. Look in the right places and there is great quality and superb value to be found.

The two major grapes are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, though you can find small pockets of well-made Aligoté.
