This extraordinary and elegant white is made from hand picked Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) grapes vinified as a white wine by removing the dark skins, in a similar fashion to the production of Champagne from red Pinot Noir grapes. It is richly intense with flavours of white flowers, peaches and citrus fruits. Well balanced and elegant with the powerful fruit finishing long and complex backed by a firm acidity.

Tenuta Frecciarossa has just 20ha of vineyard within the ‘Oltrepo Pavese’ zone of Lombardy. These are wonderful food wines, almost exclusively enjoyed at the fashionable bars and restaurants of Milan. The zesty, dry Riesling has a bouquet of apricot and peach, whilst the red ‘Praielle’ blend of Barbera, Bonarda and Uva Rara is packed with red berry fruit softened by barrel age. The elegant dry ‘Sillery’ is an extraordinary Pinot Nero vinified as a white wine, and the barrique aged Pinot Nero was awarded as best Italian Pinot Nero by Gambero Rosso.

This white Pinot Noir has the body and power to match chicken or veal casseroles, osobuco or subtle curries and stir frys with oriental spices.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is the holy grail grape for many winemakers, it is a difficult mistress, but when made well it shines.

Young Pinot Noir has delicious aromas of cherries, raspberries, and strawberries. With age it develops complexity and mystery. Older wines have the capacity to become a gamey style of wine, and the best examples show autumnal notes of truffles, mushrooms, and forest floor.

Lombardy, Italy

Lombardy is known for its fashion capital, Milan, the region is a mix of dense cities and natural landscapes.

It begins in the Alps with the heroic scenery of the Valtellina Valley and encompasses the rolling hills of Franciacorta. The region is also home to Italy’s Lakes District - the jewels of Garda, Sirmione, Maggiore, and Como. Along the shores of Lake Garda is the Lugana wine zone that makes the white wine of the same name.
