Domaine Chatellier is a family estate in Saint-Lumine-de-Clisson, in the heart of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine. The domaine has been passed down through the Chatellier family since the 19th century and today remains firmly rooted in the same granite-rich vineyards that have shaped its wines for generations.
Now represented by the seventh generation of the family, Domaine Chatellier focuses on Melon de Bourgogne, the grape behind Muscadet. Their vineyards lie within the Clisson cru area, where granite soils and extended ageing on the lees produce wines with greater depth and texture while retaining the freshness that makes Muscadet such a rewarding partner at the table.
For many wine drinkers, Muscadet remains one of France's most overlooked regions. At its best, it offers precision, freshness and a strong sense of place without the price tag attached to more fashionable white wine regions. Domaine Chatellier is a good example of why the region deserves attention.
The family farms around 17 hectares of vines, producing wines that range from classic Muscadet Sur Lie to more ambitious bottlings from the Clisson cru. The hallmark is balance rather than excess: citrus fruit, gentle salinity and a mineral character that comes from the area's granite soils.
