Domaine de Sainte Marie is a family estate in the Jura, based near Arlay and working primarily with the region’s signature grape, Savagnin. The family has farmed vines here for more than two centuries.
The estate is run by Bertrand de Sainte Marie together with his son Gaëtan and oenologist Nicolas Cottier, focusing on Savagnin wines that show the Jura’s character with clarity and balance.
Domaine de Sainte Marie Savagnin wines from the Jura
The Jura sits between Burgundy and the Alps and produces some of France’s most distinctive wines. Savagnin is the grape most closely associated with the region, valued for its structure, savoury depth and ability to age.
Vineyards around Arlay sit on limestone-rich soils in a cooler climate, which helps keep Savagnin fresh and finely structured as it ripens. Domaine de Sainte Marie handles the wines with a measured, traditional approach, keeping the flavours clear and the finish dry.
If you want to understand why the Jura has such a following, Savagnin is the place to start. These wines reward a bit of air in the glass and a few years in bottle.
