A mixed case showing the breadth and generosity of Spanish wine. Six bottles drawn from different regions and grape varieties, each chosen because it captures something Spain does particularly well.

Spanish wines have a relaxed confidence about them. Plenty of flavour, good balance, and the sort of drinkability that makes them easy to return to at the table. This case brings together reds and whites that show that character clearly.

There is Rioja for its classic structure and polish, Garnacha and Monastrell for their warmth and generous fruit, and three fresh whites that show the lighter side of Spanish wine. Different regions and grapes, but the same idea throughout: wines that work well with food and are satisfying to drink.

Wines in the Case

  • Ontañón Ecológico Rioja – A modern Rioja made from Tempranillo grown on organic vineyards. Ripe plum and dark cherry fruit with a touch of spice and gentle tannins.
  • Prisma Organic Monastrell, Jumilla – A generous southern Spanish red with ripe plum, dark berry fruit and a little peppery spice, made from organically grown Monastrell.
  • Borsao Monte Oton Garnacha, Campo de Borja – Juicy and expressive with ripe red fruit and a little warmth from the Spanish sun. Easy to enjoy with simple suppers.
  • El Tesoro Verdejo, Castilla y León – Fresh and lively with citrus, green apple and a hint of herbs. Particularly good with seafood, salads and lighter dishes.
  • Bodegas Taron Blanco Rioja – Bright orchard fruit with a little texture and freshness. A versatile white that works well with fish, chicken and simple pasta dishes.
  • Ananto Macabeo, Utiel-Requena – Light and refreshing with citrus and gentle floral notes. Easy to drink and very comfortable as an aperitif.

Taken together these six bottles give a clear sense of what makes Spanish wine so enjoyable: generous fruit, good balance, and wines that sit naturally alongside food.

Food Pairing

These wines are very comfortable with the sort of dishes Spain itself does well: grilled meats, roast chicken, tapas, charcuterie, seafood, and simple vegetable dishes.
