Warm, dark-fruited southern Italian red. Usually full-bodied, with ripe cherry and plum, gentle tannin, and a bit of spice.
Most of what we stock comes from Puglia, where the grape ripens easily and tends to make generous, food-friendly reds. Labels you’ll see include Salento IGT for broader regional bottlings, and Primitivo di Manduria DOC for richer, more concentrated styles.
If you’re choosing a bottle for dinner, this is a safe option for tomato-based pasta, grilled meats, sausages, aubergine dishes, and hard cheeses.
Manduria wines often come across as deeper and more powerful, while Salento can be a touch fresher and more straightforward. Producer matters as much as the place, but those names are a useful starting point.
