£318.00 Case of 6 (In Bond)

Château Léoville Poyferré is one of the great names of Saint-Julien and one of the most highly regarded Second Growths of the Médoc. Owned by the Cuvelier family since 1920, the estate has spent the last several decades refining its approach in both vineyard and cellar, earning a reputation for producing wines that combine concentration, finesse and remarkable consistency.

The vineyard occupies some of Saint-Julien's most prized gravel soils, with Cabernet Sauvignon at the heart of the blend alongside Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The result is a style that captures the character of the appellation: structured and age-worthy, yet often more generous and approachable in youth than many of its neighbours.

The 2025 vintage appears particularly successful in Saint-Julien, where reports point to wines of freshness, balance and precision despite very low yields. Léoville Poyferré seems especially well suited to the vintage, bringing together ripe fruit, refined tannins and the depth expected from one of Bordeaux's leading estates.

While classified growth status guarantees nothing on its own, Léoville Poyferré has repeatedly justified its reputation through the quality in the glass. It remains one of the most reliable choices for those seeking a serious Saint-Julien capable of rewarding decades of cellaring while still offering charm and generosity along the way.

Food Pairing

Best enjoyed with roast beef, rack of lamb, venison and other classic red meat dishes. With maturity, it develops the complexity and savoury character to pair beautifully with game, slow-cooked dishes and mature hard cheeses.

Bordeaux, France

Bordeaux is a famous wine region in southwestern France which produces some of the world's finest wines. The region is home to over 10,000 wine estates and more than 60 appellations, each with its own unique terroir and wine styles.

Bordeaux wines are typically known for their complexity, depth, and ability to age.

Cabernet Franc

Established in the Libournais region of southwest France in the 17th century. Cardinal Richelieu later took cuttings to the Loire Valley where it's early ripening allowed it to thrive. It is also found thoughout Bordeaux and in the USA.

It typically produces pale red wine with a peppery perfume touched with tobacco, raspberry, bell pepper, cassis, and violets.

Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among a diverse spectrum of climates from Australia and British Columbia, Canada to Lebanon's Beqaa Valley.

The classic profile is full-bodied with high tannins and noticeable acidity that contributes to aging potential.

Merlot

"If anyone orders merlot, I’m leaving. I am not drinking any f*&!ing merlot".

Miles view (from the film Sideways) is not shared by everyone, Merlot is loved by many for it's boisterous black cherry flavours, supple tannins, and chocolatey finish. It is a component of some of the worlds finest wines.
