Prisma Organic Monastrell 2024 is a full-bodied red from the sun-drenched vineyards of Jumilla in south-eastern Spain. Made from 100% organically grown Monastrell, it delivers the ripe fruit, richness and spice that have made the region one of the grape's natural homes.

Aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and fig lead into a generous palate packed with concentrated bramble fruit, warming spice and a touch of black pepper. Firm yet well-integrated tannins are balanced by fresh acidity, giving the wine structure as well as drinkability.

The grapes are grown on dry hillside vineyards where the hot, arid climate naturally limits yields and produces intensely flavoured fruit. After hand harvesting, the grapes spend around two weeks macerating on their skins before fermentation, extracting colour, flavour and tannin. The wine is then matured in stainless steel to preserve the purity of the fruit.

Monastrell has been cultivated around Jumilla for centuries and is exceptionally well adapted to the region's extreme conditions. The combination of abundant sunshine, poor soils and old vines produces wines with remarkable concentration while retaining freshness through naturally cool nights.

Prisma is a modern expression of the variety, combining generous southern Spanish fruit with balance and freshness, making it as enjoyable with food as it is on its own.

Food Pairing

Serve with grilled beef, roast pork, lamb, smoky barbecue dishes or balsamic-glazed roast vegetables. Its rich fruit and spicy finish also pair well with mature hard cheeses.

Mourvèdre/Monastrell

Mourvèdre, also known as Monastrell, originated in Spain and is believed to date back to the 1st century BCE. Rarely a standalone varietal it is popular for blending in the Rhône Valley, Provence and Languedoc.

When done well, Mouvérdre wines exhibit flavours of red berries, farmyard, wild game, and earthy notes.
