Merlot

Merlot is a dark coloured grape, the name is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird (possibly a reference to its dark colour).

It has big red and black fruit flavours, typically of raspberries, strawberries, plums and blackberries. It is a major component of the Bordeaux blends from Pomerol and St-Émilion.
