It’s that time again Le Beaujolais Nouveau est Arrivé! Beaujolais Nouveau Day is always the third Thursday in November.
Once again we have partnered with Cecile and Alain Dardenelli from Domaine Bel Avenir in La Chapelle de Guinchay, 3 kilometres east of Chénas.
Their grapes are harvested from vines planted on an array of different terroirs: siliceous clay (St Amour), granite (Chénas) and limestone. The couple own vineyards in the Beaujolais-Villages plain as well as in the Crus of Juliénas, Chénas, St Amour and Fleurie.
We are always excited to see what this years harvest will bring. The 2024 growing season started with rain and cool temperatures with intense sunshine during summer. Fingers crossed we have all the elements for a good year.
Cecile tasted the wines during fermentation, "strawberry and raspberry are the flavours of the year, " she explained. The cooler temperatures give it, "a little more tartness than last year, but very pleasant. I'm sure everyone will love it!" It sounds like a more classic vintage for the region.
As always, you can expect bubble-gum, raspberries, cherries and fresh, vibrant, and juicy fun.
This is a super Nouveau in a crowded field. It’s god to see B.N. being taken seriously. Our local Waitrose quickly sold out of the one they stocked which was not quite as good a this one.
Excellent!
Excellent wine with excellent service from Wickhams
Light and fruity and easy to drink with chicken, pasta or on its own.
This is high quality wine which will be delightful well beyond the nouveau season. Being a “Villages” it has more body and depth than the usual run of nouveaux. Thoroughly enjoyable!
Really enjoyed the wine
Lovely easy drinking wine Thank you

Bought two bottles, drank one, loved it so much we ordered 6 more!! Found the wine improved once it had time to breathe, so if you’re eager to drink it you might want to aerate the first glass. That said it’s not a necessity as our first glass was l
