Years of wine industry experience and a finely tuned palate give James the knowledge, skill and attention to detail to ensure Snapper Rock delivers exceptional quality and amazing value.
Snapper Rock is from the cool climate of the most southern valley of the Marlborough region, which adds something special not found anywhere else in Marlborough.
What's your inspiration?
To make our wines we have leveraged the local knowledge of two of New Zealands most talented young wine makers David Clouston from Marlborough and Hayden Penney from Hawkes Bay. Using fresh fruit driven styles of wine making pioneered in the new world to create wines that reflect the varieties best suited to that region of New Zealand.
Why should customers choose Snapper Rock?
We offer a range of wines with freshness and breathtaking clarity. They are pure and true – offering a vibrant reflection of Marlborough and the personality of each vintage.
The Snapper Rock ethos is simple – they employ modern techniques with traditional craftsmanship. All the vineyards are tended by hand and the grapes are picked early in the morning. This retains the fresh acidity, if its too warm the balance of acids are lower and sugars are higher which will effect the finish in the wine – Good wine is made in the vineyard.
Sustainability is at the heart of Snapper Rock. Sustainability extends far beyond the vineyard and winery, the entire supply chain, from sourcing raw materials through to selecting contractors factor in to their sustainability. They stay true to the land to protect the island. They are responsible with resources and how they are used. The ultimate motivation is to make sure future generations can work the land, including leaving the legacy of fishing at Snapper Rock.
