The Abbey of Valmagne, also called the Cathedral of the Vineyards, sits just outside Montpellier. In 1838 the abbey was aquired by the Count of Turenne and this cuvée is named in his honour.

The wine is an organic blend of Grenache Blanc (80%), and Rousanne (20%). The grapes are harvested from older vines, with half of the wine spending 6-8 months in oak to add complexity.

The nose shows incredible freshness revealing beautiful notes of thyme, fennel and acacia flowers. The palate is elegant with impressive structure and balance. There are notes of white blossom, honey and stone fruits.

Pair this with lean white fish dishes, or vegetarian cuisine.

Languedoc-Rousillon, France

The Languedoc is a vast region stretching across much of the south and Mediterranean and is France`s single largest vineyard entity for its Vins de Pays wines.

Within the Languedoc lie several distinctly identified Vins de Pays (including the l`Aude, Gard and Hérault) and many appellations that maintain traditional local blends and styles such as Minervois, Corbières, Pic Saint Loup and Fitou.

Grenache / Garnacha

Found throughout northern Spain and southern France, there are three variants: Grenache Noir, Blanc and Gris.

Grenache Noir is the most common. It is generally spicy, berry-flavored and soft on the palate. Complex and intense notes of blackcurrants, black cherries, black olives, coffee, gingerbread, honey, leather, black pepper, tar, spices, and roasted nuts can also be found.

Roussanne

Originally from the Rhône valley, Roussanne is a late-ripening grape variety that produces powerful, perfumed white wines. It often develops aromas of fresh flowers, peaches, herbs, pears, spice, roasted nuts, and hints of pepper. It is found in blends including Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, and Saint-Joseph.

Roussanne wines are rich and often have a silky, exotic, oily texture. Enjoy them within the first few years of bottling or lay them down for 15 to 20 years.

Rolland d'Allaines, Abbaye de Valmagne

The vineyard of the Abbey de Valmagne dates back to 1139, when the Cistercian monks found a location to install a new abbey. In 1838 the Count of Turenne bought the Abbey and continued to develop the vineyard, work that Rolland d'Allaines, his descendent continues today.

Since 1999 the 35 hectares of vines have been farmed organically with bio-dynamic inspiration.
