Côte de Brouilly is one of the ten Beaujolais cru villages. It is characterized by intense fruitiness and a very pleasant structure. Vines raised on the volcanic rocks of Mont Brouilly are strong in character and robust.

Here, notes of blackberries and cassis on the palate accompany the soft tannins of the vintage. It is elegant and the crunchy fruitiness of its aromas will charm the most delicate palate.

Pair this with salted deli meats or pasta dishes with a tomato based sauce.

Gamay

Gamay is a thin, delicate purple-black skinned grape which is cylindrical and compact, surrounded by flat, fairly even-edged leaves.

Although granite soils seem to be its soil of choice, the variety is good at adapting. Half of the 30,000 hectares of Gamay planted worldwide are in the Beaujolais region of France, where it covers 98% of the areas that produce Beaujolais wine.

Beaujolais, France

The hilly Beaujolais vineyards stretch out from north to south over 55km, bordered to the west by the Massif Central, and to the east by the Saone river.

Beaujolais vineyards are emblematic in the French national landscape, but are still teeming with secrets to be unearthed. The region has a constent sense of welcome and sharing. Sculpted over centuries it is personified by its 12 AOCs.

Guillaume Dumontet, Domaine des Fournelles

The family run estate is located in St Lager and covers 8 hectares. Production is mostly from vineyards in the cru villages of Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly.

The estate is currently certified to HVE (High Environmental Value), with organic certification in the pipeline. The vines are worked manually: cup size by hand, manual harvesting, attachment of the vine etc. All the vinification is done at the domaine cellars.
