For years people's experience of Rioja has been a story of wood, of oak in particular. It was assumed that the longer a wine spent in oak, the better the wine was. Although often I found that this just meant the wine tasted of oak rather than fruit.

Thankfully many modern Spanish winemakers have realised that you can make irresistible Rioja without leaving the wine in oak barrels for years. Our Irresistible Rioja Selection showcases this modern style of Spanish winemaking.
