This French white wine is a hidden gem from this rarely encountered single varietal.

La Loupe has a lovely dry and richly textured palate, it is impressively fragrant with hedgerow flowers and orange blossom. It is a wine made to be enjoyed young and fresh, with a mid-bodied palate rich with flavours of acacia, peach and greengages balanced by a dry mineral finish.

Excellent as an aperitif and served with globe artichokes, Asian stirfry vegetables, grilled fish and shellfish.

Languedoc-Rousillon, France

The Languedoc is a vast region stretching across much of the south and Mediterranean and is France`s single largest vineyard entity for its Vins de Pays wines.

Within the Languedoc lie several distinctly identified Vins de Pays (including the l`Aude, Gard and Hérault) and many appellations that maintain traditional local blends and styles such as Minervois, Corbières, Pic Saint Loup and Fitou.

Grenache / Garnacha

Found throughout northern Spain and southern France, there are three variants: Grenache Noir, Blanc and Gris.

Grenache Noir is the most common. It is generally spicy, berry-flavored and soft on the palate. Complex and intense notes of blackcurrants, black cherries, black olives, coffee, gingerbread, honey, leather, black pepper, tar, spices, and roasted nuts can also be found.

La Loupe was the "House white" at a restaurant we frequent in Oxford: we found Wickhams was a source and have been ordering it ever since. The Grenache grape makes La Loupe a delicious, light, dry summer wine: excellent value for money.

A great favourite. This vintage is even nicer. This varietal is not easily available and was the first wine I bought from Wickhams. Shall order more!

Green Apple on the nose. Medium acidity carrying multiple tropical flavors, with a white pepper finish.Good value.
