Here is a Picpoul de Pinet in a class of its own. Winner of a gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole Paris. The wine has a limpid, pale yellow colour with bright green reflections. The palate is lively and fresh, revealing a beautiful richness supported by citrus flavours of lemon and lime. As you would expect, the finish has a wonderful smack of sea salt - thanks to the vineyards proximity to the Mediterranean sea. The length is long and lingering.
The grapes where harvested during the night to preserve the freshness. Fermentation was in stainless steel. The wine was racked, then aged for several months on fine lees to give a textural quality.
Pair this with fresh oysters, a seafood platter, or fresh fish. Alternatively, enjoy it as an apperitif or by itself.
"With a nose of apples and citrus this is a classy example of what to expect from a well-made Picpoul. Zippy with terrific length (finish) it will be more than a match for shellfish, seafood and fish." Stephen Barrett
