In 1969 M. and Mme. Aimé Bataillard purchased Château de Belleverne. The abandoned estate stretched to 55 hectares. 15 hectares were planted to vines in the Beaujolais Villages and Chénas appellations. Over many years, and alongside their day job as butchers, the Bataillard's renovated the estate.
Their sons Didier and Alain took on the estate in the early 80s. Michaal, the third generation, is the most recent family member to join the family enterprise. Together they have grown the estate to 31.5 hectares, adding vineyards in the cru villages of Chénas, Saint Amour, Juliénas and Moulin à Vent.
