Sancerre 'Les Longues Fins', 2020
Sancerre, the original Sauvignon Blanc. Although this may be the worlds most popular grape, it all started in France where this white grape excels in rich, flinty soil, giving a crisp edge and imbuing natural richness.
Domaine Andre Nevey is a single vineyard Sancerre which has the added complexity of mineral and herbaceous flavours on the palate. The immense long flavour of gooseberries and blackcurrant leaves lingers on the finish.
Domaine Andre Neveu
The Domaine Andre Neveu has created amazing Sancerre for over five decades. The estate seamlessly integrates traditional methods and the best modern equipment to bring out the very essence of the terroir, creating a rich, elegant wine.
Valérie (André Neveu’s daughter), and her husband Thomas, now run the domaine that extends to about 13 hectares of vines of AOC Sancerre red, white and rosé.
Sancerre
This beautiful region is situated 200km south of Paris and extends west along the high reaches of the Loire River. This is a cold climate northern wine making region and includes the following famous villages; Sancerre, Pouilly Sur Loire, Quincy and Menetou-Salon.
There are only two permitted grape varieties, namely, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The soils have a high percentage of flint and limestone and this results in crisp, aromatic whites and perfumed, elegant rose and reds.
Littered with artisan producers, the best single domaine wines are made in small quantities and are of top drawer quality. In recent years, the demand for the best wines in the region has exceeded supply.
