A unique grape variety that originates in Georgia, the earliest mentions of the variety are dated to the 9th and 10th centuries.
Saperavi translates as "dye" in Georgian. It is a tenturier variety, meaning (unusually) both its skin and flesh are coloured. It has a deep colour, floral notes, flavours of black and red fruits and hints of spice. It also has huge ageing potential.
