Araldica are one of the most respected producers of Barbera and this quintessential Piemontese red is an easy drinking wine. It is fabulously food friendly, ideal when served lightly chilled.

A juicy Italian red wine with aromas of blackberries, plums and black cherries. These characters follow through to the palate, which has good concentration of ripe, supple fruit along with soft tannins and a savoury spiciness. There's a refreshing acidity on the finish too.

As you would expect this is fantastic with pizza and pasta and plenty of Parmesan!

Produced from Barbera grapes cultivated in vineyards in the Monferrato hills in the south of the province of Asti. The south west facing vineyards are at altitudes of between 250 and 400m and the soil is clay and limestone. Grapes are hand harvested at the start of October. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 25 - 30 degrees C. Pressed when dry and racked to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation. The wine is then matured for 4-6 months in stainless steel tanks.

Piedmont, Italy

Piedmont is affected by a tug-of-war between two weather systems: the ice cold Alps and the warm Mediterranean temperature. This variation makes the whole area fill up with morning fog that slowly burns off during the day. This means the land higher up on the hills gets more sun. More sun = happy grapes = good wine. It's why Piedmont (or Piemonte) is considered to be Italy's best wine growing region.

Barbera

Barbera is a red grape variety indigenous to Italy, best known for producing light, fruity wines in Piedmont. It is very much a wine "of the people", used to make approachable wines to be drunk young, in quantity!

Typically it has flavours of dark cherry, strawberries, plum, and blackberry. It can be aged in oak to add further complexity. It is a great compliment to simple BBQ food.
