Sitting high in the Italian alps, overlooked by snow capped peaks, the Inferno vineyards are on heroically steep terraces between 350 and 550 metres about sea level. This elegant red wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo, known locally as Chiavennasca.

Ruby red in colour, this has fine and complex aroma with notes of redcurrants, walnuts, black pepper, and Alpine herbs. Thanks to high summer temperatures and lots of sunshine the palate is super ripe, whilst the big dinurnal variation between day and night give freshness and elegance. It is harmonious, persistent, with good longevity.

The wine was vinified in small oak barrels for 20 months.

Serve at 16-18°C with red meats, game, first courses with meat sauces.

Lombardy, Italy

Lombardy is known for its fashion capital, Milan, the region is a mix of dense cities and natural landscapes.

It begins in the Alps with the heroic scenery of the Valtellina Valley and encompasses the rolling hills of Franciacorta. The region is also home to Italy’s Lakes District - the jewels of Garda, Sirmione, Maggiore, and Como. Along the shores of Lake Garda is the Lugana wine zone that makes the white wine of the same name.

Nebbiolo

Often referred to as the queen of black grapes, Nebbiolo is the grape of legendary wines such as Barolo and Barberesco. The name derives from nebia which translates as "fog", due to the morning fog which hangs around the vineyards.

The wines are high in tannins, repaying the patient with their ageworthyness. With time they will often develop flavours of violets, herbs, dark fruit and truffles.

The vineyards are set on 22 acres of steep, south facing terraces in the heart of the mountainous Valtellina region.
