The Aldo Rainoldi vineyards are high in the Italian alps, overlooked by snow capped peaks. This elegant red wine is made in Italy's Valtellina Valley from 100% Nebbiolo, known locally as Chiavennasca. The vineyards are at altitudes between 300 and 650 metres above sea level.

Ruby red in color. A medium-bodied wine, particularly fresh and fruity: currants, plums, and raspberries. Its main characteristics are drinkability, freshness, and versatility in pairing with food.

Serve at 15-16°C with appetizers, first courses, young cheeses, marinated fish, or grilled vegetables.

Lombardy, Italy

Lombardy is known for its fashion capital, Milan, the region is a mix of dense cities and natural landscapes.

It begins in the Alps with the heroic scenery of the Valtellina Valley and encompasses the rolling hills of Franciacorta. The region is also home to Italy’s Lakes District - the jewels of Garda, Sirmione, Maggiore, and Como. Along the shores of Lake Garda is the Lugana wine zone that makes the white wine of the same name.

Nebbiolo

Often referred to as the queen of black grapes, Nebbiolo is the grape of legendary wines such as Barolo and Barberesco. The name derives from nebia which translates as "fog", due to the morning fog which hangs around the vineyards.

The wines are high in tannins, repaying the patient with their ageworthyness. With time they will often develop flavours of violets, herbs, dark fruit and truffles.

Aldo Rainoldi, Valtellina Valley

Aldo Rainoldi was formed in 1925 under the leadership of Giuseppe Rainoldi, who named the company in honour of his eponymous son. Located not far from Chiuro, in the province of Sondrio (Valtellina) in Lombardy, over the course of 100 years Aldo Rainoldi has become one of the very finest wine producers in the region.

The vineyards are set on 22 acres of steep, south facing terraces in the heart of the mountainous Valtellina region.
