Awarded a coveted 2 star by the Gudie Hachette (aka the French wine bible), this Champagne is a classic blend of Chardonnay (20%), Pinot Meunier (50%), and Pinot noir (30%). It is a traditional style which offers the perfect balance of value and quality.

In the glass it shows a pretty light gold colour, and has generous, fine, and persistent bubbles. The nose opens with citrus and stone fruit. The palate is fresh and balanced.

A great aperitif, or for a decadent treat try it with freshly shucked oysters.

Champagne, France

The pressure inside a bottle of Champagne can be as high as 90 pounds per square inch (psi), which is about three times the pressure inside an average car tyre. This is because the carbon dioxide produced during the secondary fermentation is trapped inside the bottle, creating the wine's signature bubbles.

The traditional wire cage used to secure the cork in place is called a "muselet", it takes six half-twists to secure it properly.

Sparkling Blend

The grapes, most commonly Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Pinot meunier, are used to make several base wines that are assembled together to make Champagne, English Sparkling wine and other classic cuvée wines.

Champagne blends can also include Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Other appelations have rules about which grapes can be included.

Phillipe Gantois, Champgane Gérin et Fils

Champagnes Gérin-Fils is a tribute to the five generations of winegrowers who have succeeded one another in the field. Each generation has refined exceptional cuvées from their unique terroir sited at the foot of the Montagne de Reims.

The valleys geology is sometimes hard marls and limestones which make exceptional Chardonnay, and sometimes sands which are better for Pinot Meunier.
