"Champagne is one of the elegant extras in life." so said Charles Dickens. Whatever the occasion, treat yourself to a bottle of finest French Champagne.

This is a delightful classic Champagne from Epernay in the heart of the French Champagne region.

The wine is produced from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. This creates an elegant dry Champagne with a gentle mousse and fine flavours. It is lovely and light with flavours of apple and citrus fruits. There are hints of brioche and lots of bubbles.

It recently won a Silver Medal in the 2021 International Wine Challenge, where the judges commented:

"Vibrant, bright and incredibly well balanced. A classic style with notes of nectarine, lovely autolysis and nutty finish."

Champagne, France

The pressure inside a bottle of Champagne can be as high as 90 pounds per square inch (psi), which is about three times the pressure inside an average car tyre. This is because the carbon dioxide produced during the secondary fermentation is trapped inside the bottle, creating the wine's signature bubbles.

The traditional wire cage used to secure the cork in place is called a "muselet", it takes six half-twists to secure it properly.

Sparkling Blend

The grapes, most commonly Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Pinot meunier, are used to make several base wines that are assembled together to make Champagne, English Sparkling wine and other classic cuvée wines.

Champagne blends can also include Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Other appelations have rules about which grapes can be included.

If there was such a thing as an everyday Champagne, this is it. Ticks all the boxes for a good price.
