This is made from 100% Cercial, an indigenous grape of the region. The harvest is all done by hand and the wine is fermented in French oak barrels with lees stirring (batonnage) to bring added texture and complexity. Made in the vineyards of the Count of Foz de Arouce in the Beira Atlântico region of Portugal.

Lemon yellow colour and limpid. Complex aroma with notes of lime and grapefruit, cut grass and fennel. Good structure with pronounced acidity. Smooth, revealing vanilla and smoky undertones. Long finish.

João Portugal Ramos

João Portugal Ramos started a personal project planting 5 hectares of vineyards in Estremoz, Portugal, where he has lived since 1988. His first harvest was 1992 and until he built his first winery in 1997 he used rented buildings.

25 years later, João received the “Senhor do Vinho” Award. Today JPR wines are present throughout the world as leaders of Portuguese wines.

Cercial

Cercial is vitally important to the vineyards of Bairrada, Dão, and Tejo. Its high acidity is a valuable commodity which can make or break a vintage.

It has been used for centuries to bolster the acidity of white wines that would otherwise veer dangerously close to flabbiness.
