A French white wine blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Rolle (previously called Vermentino, but the Italian have claimed it as there own and French wine makers can no longer use that name). This has interwoven flavours which create a characterful wine which is a real delight to drink.

Both the Sauvignon Blanc vines and the Rolle vines are planted on plots with ideal drainage conditions, on a mixture of silt, sand and alluvial deposit. The Sauvignon was harvested in late August, and the Rolle from mid-September.

This care and attention has prodcued a French white wine which is a deliciously refreshing change from straight Sauvignon Blanc.

This wine takes the zesty grapefruit characters of Sauvignon Blanc and complements it with the rounded texture of Rolle.

It is a wonderful all-rounder, perfect to drink with food or by itself! It is especially good though with stir fried vegetables (particularly broccoli), vegetable pakora or a Thai green curry.

Languedoc-Rousillon, France

The Languedoc is a vast region stretching across much of the south and Mediterranean and is France`s single largest vineyard entity for its Vins de Pays wines.

Within the Languedoc lie several distinctly identified Vins de Pays (including the l`Aude, Gard and Hérault) and many appellations that maintain traditional local blends and styles such as Minervois, Corbières, Pic Saint Loup and Fitou.

Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc is found all over the world, although it probably orignates from south west France, hence the name which comes from sauvage "wild" and blanc "white".

In cool climates it produces wines with flavours of grass, green peppers and nettles with some tropical fruit and floral notes. In warmer climates more tropical fruit notes such as peach are noticeable.

Vermentino / Rolle

Vermentino is a late ripening, light-skinned wine grape, primarily used in Italian white wines. It is widely planted in Sardinia and Liguria, to some extent in Corsica, in Piedmont under the name Favorita, and in France in Languedoc-Roussillon, where (to the frustration of the vignerons) it must now be called Rolle.

Vermentino wines are powerful, deep, aromatic, and silky on the palate. They are beautiful, pale, and crystalline in colour.

Julien Dugas, Domaine Boutinot

Julien describes himself as ‘a man on the ground’; always close to the source of his wines and appreciating that this is the key to fantastic wine.

The philosophy of Domaine Boutinot is to make wines which are ready to be enjoyed as soon as they’re released, but which will continue to develop character and flavour when kept for several years.
