Alsace

Alsace, a wine-growing region in northeastern France, is best known for its aromatic white wines, such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Muscat. The wines are typically dry, full-bodied, and characterized by their fruitiness, floral and spicy notes.

Alsace is unusual in France in that it uses grape varietals as the primary labeling system, rather than geographic designations. The region is also known for its traditional fluted wine bottles, called "flûte d'Alsace".
